Sections of a Mill

A conventional mill basically consist of Pre-cleaning, Grain Storage, Cleaning, Milling, Scaling & Packaging sections; which can be designed specifically and customized for the required capacity, type of grain and specific customer requests.

Pre-Cleaning Basically the grain is separated from residues and impurities at reception. This is a rough and fast cleaning process in order to decrease the rate of impurities.

Grain Storage The grain is stored in steel silos under hygienic conditions to prevent any damage by heat, insects etc.
Cleaning This is the step to ensure that the grain is free from residues and impurities (i.e. stone, husk, straw, soil, dust, seeds etc.) for efficient processing. The processes used in cleaning mainly consists of mechanical separation by specific weight, particle size, shape and now even by color, texture with high technology optical sorters.

Milling It is a gradual process where the grain is grinded uniformly into flour/semolina, which can be analyzed at micron levels. The process is very crucial and complec considering that the grain can go through the milling machines up to 16 times!

Scaling & Packaging The flour/semolina can be packed in paper or polypropylene bags in different sizes from 1 kg to 50 kg., or leaves the mill on trucks and trailers with a bulk loading operation depending on the customer request.
